Frequently asked questions

Love Bird Lodge

Is the cabin suitable for children?

01

Please note that the cabin may not be ideal for children due to a few features that could challenge little ones. These include a narrow, steep, open circular staircase, ground-level fireplaces that require extra caution, and steep terrain directly behind the cabin. Safety is our top priority, so we encourage those with children to consider these factors before booking carefully.

What is your pet policy?

02

The cabin is a pet-free zone to ensure everyone's comfort, especially those with allergies. This stunning area is also home to some amazing wildlife, including bears! To keep all our furry friends safe, we kindly ask that you leave all animals at home or find accommodations that are better suited for their needs.

Are there nearby outdoor activities?

03

The area around here is perfect for outdoor adventures, nature lovers, and anyone looking for excitement! In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you can explore hiking trails, discover beautiful waterfalls, and enjoy wildlife watching. If you're up for even more fun, you can visit attractions like Anakeesta and Ober Mountain for amazing views and activities. You can also relax with some fishing or take in the natural beauty. For those craving adventure, there’s ziplining, horseback riding, and whitewater rafting. If you're looking for something more laid-back, you can have a picnic, play mini-golf, or check out the Dollywood theme park. There's something for everyone to enjoy!

05

What is your cancellation policy?

06

We understand that plans can change, but due to the challenges of rebooking short-term rentals, we have a strict cancellation policy. To get a full refund, guests must cancel within 48 hours of booking and at least 14 days before check-in. If you cancel 14 or more days before check-in but outside the 48-hour window, you’ll receive a 50% refund. Cancellations between 7 and 14 days before check-in will also receive a 50% refund, but no refunds are given for cancellations within 7 days of check-in. We recommend purchasing travel insurance if there’s any chance you may need to cancel. Thank you for understanding!

How do I get there?

08

Love Bird Lodge sits in the Sky Harbor community, tucked between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge in the Smoky Mountains. The roads are paved all the way to the cabin — but like most of this area, expect some steep and winding mountain driving. That's part of what makes the arrival feel like you've actually gotten somewhere.

A standard car handles the drive just fine in fair weather. In winter or wet conditions, 4WD or AWD is worth having.

Flying in? Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) is your closest option — roughly 40–45 minutes away. We'll send detailed directions before your arrival so you can find us without any second-guessing.

A few things that make the drive better:

Arrive while it's still light. If you can time it, plan to get here before dark. The mountain roads are easier to navigate in daylight, and the drive through the Smokies is worth actually seeing.

Take your time. The roads are part of the experience. There's no need to rush — the forested hills and the feeling of leaving everything behind are worth a slow pace.

Expect narrow, two-way roads. You may need to ease over occasionally to let another car pass. They'll do the same for you. It's that kind of place.

Winter roads can be steep and slippery. If you're visiting in colder months, 4WD or all-wheel drive will make the drive in — and out — a lot more comfortable.
